History Of Containerization Foundation

CII

The Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII), founded in 1960, is dedicated to providing educational opportunities for transportation industry professionals and the public via a neutral forum for discussion. CII provides these opportunities through existing programs and initiatives, including seminars, scholarships, award programs, educational outreach and historical education.

In this way, CII and HOC Foundation share a common mission to preserve the containerization industry’s decorated past for future generations. CII is proud to support the HOC Foundation and to participate in its watershed 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration.

CII is active in educating the industry and the public about the importance of the container industry including its history. CII is working with The Journal of Commerce to produce a comprehensive history of the first 50 years of containerization and how it help transform the global economy. The hard cover book will serve as a permanent record of the contributions made by the people and companies that shaped the world of commerce as we know it today.

CII is seeking sponsors to help support production of the book. Those contributing companies will receive a page of acknowledgement in the book consisting of an executive letter that will become part of the book’s permanent record for future generations.

Sales proceeds from the book will go to develop educational outreach efforts aimed at raising public awareness of the container transportation industry and its benefits to everyday life – a core mission of CII.
